Cassie lived on the cloudy, rainy planet of Ecstasy where nothing exciting happened. Then her parents turn up dead, an abusive uncle and her loving cousin come to live with her. That’s when all the strange things start happening in Cassie’s life. So Cassie and her cousin run to the one place that will afford her an escape away from those that hunt her, and that is when her life really gets strange. Of course, it’s not anything a girl that can talk to ghosts and manifest fears out of people’s minds can’t handle.

I haven’t read a whole lot of YA or adventures, but after reading this book, I will. This was a space adventure featuring Cassie and her cousin Rose, who face a whole lot in their journeys. I mean really a lot. There is no moment wasted, adventure from start to the last word. Each time I thought the girls might get a rest, things changed, and they were facing the next thing that stood between them and safety.

These are some seriously brave young ladies. I would love to continue with this series and watch Cassie and Rose grow. It was really intelligently crafted, making it a great read for both young and older readers. I’m huge on characters and the story was populated with secondary characters that were as interesting and has as much depth as its leads. I was especially drawn to Emma, who I don’t want to give away too much about.

There is so much to enjoy here, I recommend it to readers of all ages.
