Steampunk invades Fairhaven – Saturday July 19th (WWP in attendance!)

steampunkIf you are a fantasy or science fiction fan you will want to drop everything else you planned to do tomorrow and head over to Fairhaven to check out this exciting and FREE event. The Fairhaven Steampunk Festival aka The Fantastical Mr. Flip’s Carnival of Wonders and Curiosities will give you a day to remember!

This is the third year of the festival and you will be entertained, amazed, and hopelessly in love with the creative and unique community, the Bellingham Steampunk Society and others, who come together each year to pull this off. The event will be split between the Village Green in Fairhaven, the Village Inn, and the Village Books; running from 11am to 5pm.

Outside, under the cover of canopies (just in case), you will find booths and merchants selling everything from the ordinary to the extraordinary–beautiful baubles to otherworldly oddities. You will be entertained with music and acrobatics from buskers and performers–perhaps even the Ladies of the Evening o.O! There will be fencing demos. Everything Steampunk will be on display–costumes, gadgets, bric-a-brac, even bicycles. There will be food and plenty of merchants selling their wares, so be sure to bring your appetite, your mad money, and your laughter. July 7th at Village Books is hosting a Multi-Author Steampunk readings as part of the first ever Steampunk Festival in Fairhaven.  Steampunk is a growing phenomenon, even Prada has succumbed and is featuring Steampunk fashion in its new Fall mens fashion ad campaign–waistcoats and pocket watches are back!
